Plan to attend author Reid Lance Rosenthal’s program at the library on Wednesday, April 19 at 6:30 p.m. Reid’s book, “Threads West,” has been a Niobrara Reads feature throughout the winter. Rosenthal’s cowboy heart and poet’s pen capture the spirit of the western landscape and its influence on generations of its settlers. His devotion to wild and remote places and to the people—both past and present—who leave their legend and footprint upon America and the American West is the inspiration and descriptive underpinning of all of his writing. Reid is a fourth-generation land and cattleman from Converse County.

Lin McAdam pursues a murderous fugitive in “Winchester 73.” He wins a rare rifle, only one of a thousand made, in a sharp-shooting contest and the rifle catches the eye of the very fugitive McAdam is chasing - leading to a bullet-ridden trek through the American West. The movie will be featured on Monday, April 24 at 6 p.m. as part of Jimmy Stewart’s American West dinner & movie series. A meal will be available; library programs are free and open to the public.
