LUSK- P.E.O. Chapter I will hold its 40th Annual Soup and Salad Luncheon on Oct. 11th at St. George’s Episcopal Church, 11:00a.m. to 1:30p.m.
Everyone is invited to the luncheon, which includes homemade vegetable beef soup, bread, salad bar, cookies, and beverage. P.E.O. members donate all ingredients and prepare all the food “from scratch.” This annual event has become a tradition many local residents eagerly look forward to each fall.
The luncheon was first held in 1978 as a means to raise money to provide scholarships to senior girls graduating from Niobrara County High School. In the past 40 years, more than $19,860 in scholarship money has been awarded, having begun as a $250 scholarship, and increased to $700 in 2004. The Gertrude Chamberlain Scholarship was awarded to Emma Ceagelske. The Continuing Education Scholarship was awarded to Lexie Dockery. The P.E.O. Chapter I would like to encourage students to apply for these scholarships. More information can be obtained from a P.E.O. member.
Tickets for the luncheon may be purchased in advance from a P.E.O. member or at the door for $12 each. Call Shelly Bruch at 334-2790 for more information.
