“And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years”- Abraham Lincoln. On Saturday, August 19 Patricia Smith celebrated her 80th birthday at the Senior Center with a half- surprise birthday party. The party, which was thrown by her family, was only partially a surprise due to the posters that were placed around town declaring the event. What Smith got as a welcomed surprise was the presence of much of her family from various states that made the trip. Styled in an official birthday sash and floral boutonniere, Smith was happily surrounded by family and friends at the event. The party was held open-house style where all guests were encouraged to sign a guest book and enjoy their choice of cake or cupcakes and drinks. Smith is the Mayor of Lusk currently working on her second term in office. Prior to Mayor, she was on the Town Council. Patricia will celebrate her true birthday on August 29. Happy Birthday!
