Summer wouldn’t be summer without the Co-Ed Adult Softball League in Lusk. Set to begin Monday night, June 11, registrations are currently out and are expected to be turned back in by May 28. Shawn Leimser, Director of the Lusk Recreation, says that Monday nights will continue to be the softball nights as we prepare for the season to get underway. As of press time, Leimser states he is expecting to have four competitive teams and five recreation teams, meaning that yes, there will again be two leagues this year. The minimum age requirement for the recreation side is fourteen while the same for the recreation league is eighteen or graduated from high school. As with the previous years, at least three girl players are required to be on the field at all times during the games. “I think softball lets people get out during the summer and enjoy the outside” states Leimser on what he sees the program continuing to bring to our community. He adds that his goal this year is “To get as many people involved and on teams as we can”. With no changes planned for the 2018 season, coaches can expect a coaches meeting on June 1 at 6 o’clock in the evening. All coaches are asked to be present as this is a time to go over and secure rules, talk about any difficulties from the year before, and discuss referring and any other comments. The first pitch will happen Monday, June 11 and the season will run into August, during which time the Home Run Derby and the tournament will wrap up the 2018 year. If you haven’t already grabbed your registration form for your team, there’s still time.
