TORRINGTON – Mass of Christian Burial will be recited for Anna Amelia Nelson, 100, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2022 at Saint Rose Catholic Church with Father Dan Kostelc officiating. Anna died Aug. 1, 2022 at Torrington Community Hospital. A Rosary will be recited at 10:30 prior to the mass. Burial will take place at 2:30 p.m. at the Lusk Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Saint Rose Catholic Church. Arrangements are by the Colyer Funeral Home and condolences may be sent to www.colyerfuneralhome.com. 

Anna was born May 30, 1922 in Jireh, the daughter of Charles and Anna (Deafenbaugh) Gaukel. She grew up on the family ranch near Jireh and attended country school there at Dry Creek. She married Linden Nelson on Feb. 4, 1939 at Keeline. In 1942, the couple moved to the Gateway Camp in Lance Creek. Anna took care of their home while Linden worked for several oil companies in the area. After Linden’s retirement they moved to Torrington, where she resided until her death. 

Anna was a member of Saint Rose Catholic Church where she was active in the Alter Society.

Anna is survived by her sons Royce (Carolyn) of Torrington, Monte (Pat) of Bend, Oregon, and Barry (Rhonda) of Thermopolis; daughter Nadine (Russ) Kilmer of Torrington; daughter-in-law Bonnie Nelson of Cheyenne; 14 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and 15 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons Ronnie and Duane; a daughter Tamara; four brothers; and four sisters.
