LUSK – Individuals came from miles around to compete at the annual Niobrara county fair gymkhana on Sunday, July 31. Peewees to seniors competed in poles, goat tying, barrels, and many other events. The record breaking heat meant that only the most dedicated cowboys, cowgirls and their horses stayed committed through the day to take all-around honors.
Peewee all around girl was Bristol Underwood with BlazeLee Marty in runner-up. The peewee all around boy was Tryan Hubbard with Jhett Forkner coming in a close runner up.
Moving into the Juniors, all around girl was Aubree Shrewsbury and runner up was Tyree Hubbard. Burr Underwood was the junior all around boy with Trey Hubbard taking home the runner-up buckle.
In the Senior division, Hudson Ebmeier pulled the boys all-around award and Jack Phillips in the runner-up slot. Sage dyer scored the senior all around girl and Kayten Dickau followed with the runner-up all around girl.
The special Barry Travnicek Horseman award went to Emma Grace Velazques. She exhibited traits that were particularly valued by the late Barry Travnicek who was known for his passion for good horses and helping kids.
