LUSK – Aiden Applegarth and Sierra Lemmons will be representing the Niobrara County 4-H Shooting Sports team at the national competition held in Grand Island, Nebraska, June 20-25 at the Heartland Public Shooting Park.
According to 4h.unl.edu/shooting-sports/national, 4-H youth from across the country will compete in compound archery, recurve archery, air rifle, air pistol, .22 rifle, .22 pistol, shotgun, muzzle loading and hunting skills.
Applegarth will be competing in the archery events while Lemmons will be competing in the .22 rifle events.
“The last couple of years, they have been the best shooters in the program,” 4-H Leader Kenny Jensen said. “When I need something done, Aiden is the one I go to. He is a leader among his peers. When I talk to the kids about the rifle, I always tell them to shoot like Sierra.”
Jensen is very proud of Lemmons’ and Applegarth’s achievements.
Currently, Lemmons is in her last year of 4-H as a youth member and Applegarth is in his second to last year as a youth 4-H member.
The two will be facing off with the nation’s greatest youth marksmen and archers at this year’s event and Jensen is optimistic of their success.
