Ashurst, Coffman compete on high school rodeo circuit

LUSK – Niobrara County High School Rodeo Club has two cowboys this season, Miles Ashurst and Colton Coffman, both sophomores at NCHS, competing at rodeos around the state sanctioned by the Wyoming High School Rodeo Association. 

Coffman, long time competitor in the bull riding is currently ranked 11th in the state and has picked up first place finishes at both Torrington and Big Piney. 

Ashurst is enjoying his first full year of competing in the saddle bronc riding and is currently ranked fifth in the state standings after picking up a victory in Riverton. 

With rodeos in Gillette, Casper, Buffalo and Sheridan still to go, followed by the Wyoming State Finals scheduled for June 7-12, 2021 in Douglas, both cowboys will be looking to add to their rankings.

The top four in each event at the conclusion of state finals will advance on to the National High School Finals Rodeo hosted this year on July 18-24, 2021 in Lincoln, Neb.
