Bloomers celebrates 15 years in business

Posted

Fifteen years ago Bloomers was a start-up dream in two small rooms in the Vollmer Building ran by Carrie Bannan and Twila Barnette. Today, Bloomers is still run by Bannan and Barnette, but with some changes: they’ve moved to Lusk’s Main Street and they’ve expanded the flower shop to include furniture, recently added the Bloomers Boutique Collection, and as of last Friday, June 1, they have celebrated their fifteen year anniversary of being in business. An accomplishment that doesn’t come without some sweat, elbow grease, and the thrive to make the dream happen. When asked how they brought their dream to fruition and what some of the harder struggles have been in building a fifteen-year business, they responded, “Maintaining the building and anticipation [of] buying trends. It is a juggling act. We each have different skill sets and we feel we complement each other. We both have the same community mind set and believe in helping one another”. For Bannan and Barnette, fifteen years went by in a flash, “We have numerous memories.  We are very touched by the help and consideration of the community from when we purchased our own building, the rebuilding after the flood and participating in all the community events, such as parades fundraisers, and helping to support our local community”. From the Vollmer Building to the new Main Street location in 2006, numerous trends, a flood, repairing and re-decorating, growing the hometown business ideal, and building from the base of a flower shop to branch into furniture and clothing, both business partners agree, “We are very proud of what we have accomplished, but could not have done it without the help of our family and friends and customers”.
