Corsages on the wrist, boutonnières pinned to the lapel, and plenty of time set aside for pictures. It’s the beginning of any normal prom night only to be followed by hours of dancing, the Grand March, and the crowning of Prom Royalty. It’s a fairytale night but it doesn’t end at midnight. That’s right, After Prom comes next. Roughly 95% of the high school population attends After Prom, the majority with their prom dates including approved out of town dates. The After Prom party is funded by the Booster Club and it isn’t cheap, ringing in at right around $10,000.00. How do they raise the funds to put on After Prom? They do it by serving meals during the Tiger Jamboree and dinner during the Friday-night-home-basketball-games. So far this year they’ve served a total of five different meals, three during the Jamboree and two home games. It may not sound like many but consider the time and effort that goes into the home cooked meals—complete with dessert and drink, the extensive list of Italian Crème Sodas, and the serving time, there’s a lot of love going into the project. Members of the Booster Club include club President Laura Waldock, Treasurer JoAnn Wade, Secretary Tennille Henry, Lisa Bruegger, Kristin Stauffer, Jennifer Kottwitz, Heidi Sturman, and a slew of other parents that show up for Booster activities and donate food among other items. Money raised from the meals is used to pay for After Prom and prizes, but also provides the colored ink for the athletic programs and scholarships given to local students. Donations of call kinds are always appreciated and can either be dropped off at the high school or mailed to JoAnn Wade at PO Box 28, Lusk WY 82225.
