Surrounded by her family, Charlotte Mae (Forsstrom) Sharp, age 86, passed away peacefully at her home in Harrison, NE on June 15, 2017.  Char, as she was lovingly know by her friends, was born to Carl and Edith (Bowser) Forsstrom on November 10, 1930 in their Sand Canyon homestead near Hemingford, NE.

When Char was 11, she was involved in a car accident that killed her mother and oldest sister Ella Louise (14).  Her father eventually remarried, and to that union a sister Cookie (Eloise) was born.  In the history of her parents, Char wrote, “When Dad had the time, he’d take us golfing and ice skating.  He enjoyed skating also.  We’d go to the Box Butte Dam for that.”

Char started dating Richard “Buck” Roland Sharp in 1946.  They were married two years later on September 24, 1948 by a judge in Gering, NE when Char was 17 years old.  The couple retired together and built their home on the White River near the ghost town of Andrews, NE.  Buck and Char were married for 49 years before Buck’s untimely death in 1997.

Charlotte had various jobs over the years but was probably best known for her amazing cooking abilities.  She enjoyed family gatherings and playing cards (especially pinochle).  Shopping and talking on the phone with her friends and family gave her great pleasure.  Whenever someone stopped to visit, she would kindly turn-down the music or game that she had on the television as she enjoyed watching sports of all kinds.  Her houseplants and flowerbeds, and garden were always vibrant and lovingly tended.  Sewing and woodworking were also among her many talents. Charlotte loved to bowl. She took home the 300 game trophy in her bowling league one bowling season.  She spent countless hours researching and documenting the family history and genealogy of which she created personalized scrapbooks for each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Great-Grandma, another of her endearments, got a big kick out of always having candy on hand for the kids.  She made the time to sit and listen to them whenever they would venture over.  She will be fondly thought of and dearly missed.

Survivors include sons Roy (Roxie) Sharp of Lusk, WY, Lloyd (Kay) Sharp of Pueblo, CO and Jay Sharp of Blue Hill, NE; daughter Mae (Jim) Dunn of Harrison; brother Dale (Betty) Forsstrom of Ogallala, NE; half-sister Eloise (Marv) Kampbell of Hay Springs, NE; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Sisters Ella Louise Forsstrom and Clarice (Eugene) Gibson, her husband Buck, grandson Evan Sharp, nephew and niece Danny (Connie) Gibson.

Services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Harrison, NE on June 23rd  at 2 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be left at the Security First Bank or Sandhills State Bank in Harrison, NE.
