For those with natural gas services from Black Hills Utility—previously Source Gas—, the choice selection program wherein you get to choose your gas supplier for the next year is about to get underway. It’s possible you’ve already received information from your previous supplier, it’s possible that you’ve gotten information from new suppliers hoping to persuade you to pick them this year, and it’s possible you locked into a two year—or longer—term last year so you wouldn’t have to deal with it this year. Whatever the case may be, Wyoming Community Gas is a supplier option and the only supplier that gives back monetarily to Wyoming communities. Selection period is April 6-26 and Wyoming Community Gas is asking for serious consideration when you are weighing your options. The following Q and A is meant to answer some questions about who exactly Wyoming Community Gas is and what they bring to the table. For those interested in either continuing with or switching to Wyoming Community Gas, it is also worth noting the available discount when you sign up for the group rate at town hall. The group rate discount is available from April 6-19. The below questions are specifically for the Wyoming Community Gas supplier. What is Wyoming Community Gas?: Natalie Flood, Senior Business Development Manager, was on hand to answer this question stating, “Wyoming Community Gas is great because we are a Joint Powers Board that is made up of representatives from each of our member communities and our goal is to help educate customers so they feel confident in making their choice gas decision each year. We are the only supplier that gives back to Wyoming through both the annual distribution to each member community as well as the Wyoming Community Grant Program. Through the annual distribution we have given back more than $800,000! Each community chooses how best to spend their money each year, new playground equipment, park upgrades,  splash pads, college scholarships, new trees and landscaping, main street beautification and many, many more projects that may not happen without the additional funds each year from Wyoming Community Gas. Customers can feel good about the fact that when they choose Wyoming Community Gas, not only are they getting a competitive rate, they are also helping out Wyoming”. 

How Can I make my Selection?: You can mail in your selection form sent to you by Black Hills Utility (previously Source Gas). If you mail in your selection form, be sure to sign and print your name, date, include your confirmation code, and mark your selection. Make sure you check all areas required on your selection form so it is valid. You can call your supplier directly to make your selection. You can visit the town hall to be placed on the group rate, if you are selecting Wyoming Community Gas. Again, if you are choosing Wyoming Community Gas, you may go online and follow the steps. 

What options for pricing does Wyoming Community Gas offer?: 

Fixed Rate: Fixed price is per therm for 12 months (unless you select a 2 or 3 year period). Your gas bill will vary based on the usage, but the price per therm of the gas will remain the same. *Offers the least amount of risk but could cost the most per therm.

Market Index: Comprised of Market Index and Adder. Market Index portion is based on the CIG market price, meaning this portion of the price could fluctuate. The Adder is a fixed amount and will stay the same. *Historically the lowest but offers the most risk.

Budget Assist (Fixed Monthly Billing): Wyoming Community Gas’ version of budget billing

— It is a fixed amount that includes all charges, fees, and taxes. Price will not change over the course of the year. *No settle up fee. 

How long can I make my selection for? If your account is listed as a Residential Account, you can make your selection for up to two (2) years. If your account is listed as a Commercial Account, you can make your selection for up to three (3) years. It is important to note that if you have not received a selection form, your selection for last year may have been for two or more years.
