I would like to ask you to vote on August 21st to continue my efforts keeping the citizens and future generations in the county safe by reelecting me as sheriff. In the past the citizens of Niobrara county have placed their trust in me as Sheriff to keep the citizens of Niobrara County safe, by managing the Niobrara County Sheriff’s Office, detention and communication center. I have displayed this ability thru my years of experience reviewing reports, preparing budgets, and managing three different internal departments of the Sheriff’s office as well as the concerns and issues of the citizens of Niobrara County. I am aware of the duties and responsibilities that are placed on me, as well as my ability to be up to date on employee issues, training, statues and current events. I take the position and the responsibility placed on me as Sheriff seriously and with great pride. The Wyoming Highway patrol, Fire Department, EMS, Lusk Police department, Wyoming Department of Corrections, Niobrara County Search and Rescue, Wyoming Livestock board, and DCI. These are just a few of organizations, that by having strong working relationships with is vital for the safety of all that live in or travel through Niobrara County. I have spent my years in Law enforcement and as Sheriff developing these positive relationships to provide the best positive support for the citizens and employees of Niobrara County. As Sheriff I review, check and recheck the information provided to me for accuracy, prior to making any decision that will have consequences for my department or the citizens of Niobrara county. This includes cases sent to the county attorneys office, the budgets that the department heads for Detention and the Dispatch center turns in, as well as the information that I provide to the county commissioners. There is no justification for ignorance or I did not know, the citizens of the county as well as the employees rely on my ability to make rational informed decisions that will be beneficial for the department as well as the county. The inability to make these decisions or providing misleading, inaccurate information could be detrimental to the department, employees, and citizens of the Niobrara county. Attention to detail and providing accurate informed information is crucial, the citizens put their lives and trust in the abilities of their Sheriff. I hold myself as well as my employees to the expectations that are outlined in the Sheriff’s department policies and procedures as well as the Wyoming statues. I feel that the employees are trained thru the Wyoming Law enforcement academy, and additional training that is provided thru on-line and outside sources, I should not have to micro manage their abilities to perform their job on an individual basis. I am always willing to provide back up, and feedback to my staff, I have placed my trust in my staff that they are able to perform their duties assigned to them. As Sheriff I am required to spend multiple hours preforming administrative work that requires numerous hours in the office dealing with the inner working of the department. Along with the numerous hours in the office my duties also include responding to calls, and providing assistance to my employees, other agencies, and citizens 24 hrs. a day 7 days a week 365 days a year. I am available to the public as well as my employees at any time. When required to make the tough decisions regarding the Niobrara County Sheriff’s Office, I am honest, fair, and consistent, when dealing with each individual issue. I believe that communication is key to resolving any conflict, this cannot be done in the form of email, text or thru social media. I believe that if you speak to some one face to face that person knows you as an individual, and you are taking them seriously I have remained true to myself and believe the citizens of Niobrara county can trust that I am consistent and confidant in my ability to continue as Sheriff of Niobrara County.
