On Tuesday, October 9, 2018, the Lusk Police department investigated numerous reports of break-ins or attempted break-ins of several homes and vehicles in Lusk. There were a total of five houses and five vehicles in these reports.
This is still an ongoing investigation and is a joint effort between Lusk PD and the police department in Spearfish, SD. Spearfish reported similar incidents occurring in their area.
There appears to be one similar set of footprints at all locations in Lusk and a credit card stolen from this area was attempted to be used in a Wal-Mart in South Dakota. Sgt. Jim Frye told the Herald that although the Lusk PD does not believe there will be any more incidents occurring at this time, residents should still secure their homes and vehicles and be aware of and report any suspicious individuals or activities to the LPD or the NCSO at 334-2212.
