David A Zerbe, of Casper, WY, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at home with his family by his side.

Dave was born to parents Harlan and Leatha Zerbe on December 28, 1946 in Lusk, WY. He grew up and worked on the family ranch in Van Tassell, WY. On a trip to Sandpoint, ID in 1966, he met the love of his life, Marcia Shadel, and they were married in 1967. Dave and Marcia made their home in Van Tassell on the ranch until they moved to Casper, WY in 1977 after the ranch was sold. Together, they started and sold numerous businesses, starting with hauling sand and gravel to a trucking service. In 1981, they started Wyoming Pawn Brokers. Dave and Marcia ran the business until selling it and retiring in 1990. After a few short years of retirement, Dave and Marcia opened Zerbe Sales on First Street until they officially retired in 2004.

Dave enjoyed traveling to Alaska to fish for salmon and halibut, bear hunting, and simply sight-seeing. He always loved helping, teaching and giving to others. Friends and family of Dave knew his love for bartering and making deals. He was an avid gun collector from youth; his favorites were Winchesters, of which he bought many and eventually sold. Dave also held a passion for restoring vehicles as well as building and maintaining the family cabin. He continually educated himself and learned about many things ranging from buying real estate to trading on the stock market. He mastered the skills of everything that life threw at him. Dave was known for one of his favorite sayings “Burning Daylight.” Dave will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but now has “Daylight Forever.”

Dave is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marcia Zerbe; his daughters, Kim Hershman (Joel Hershman), Kellie Zerbe-Alme, and Kristy Turner (Gary Turner); his brother, Robert Zerbe (Carol Zerbe); his five grandchildren, Ali Hershman, Cole Hershman, Alston Zerbe, Lane Alme, and Madison Turner; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harlan and Leatha Zerbe.

Dave’s family welcomes you to attend a celebration of Dave’s life at Faith Bible Chapel, 504 N. Forest Drive, Casper, WY on April 21, 2018 at 1pm, with Pastor Dale Fitzsimmons officiating.
