DelRea Photography to be next library exhibit

Posted

Beginning January 9 and running the length of the month, Jessica Stallman of DelRea Photography will be displaying her photographs at the library. Stallman will be the third person to display her photography talents following Lacey Brott of Lacey Dale Photography and Lisa Shaw with her ‘Behind the Lens’ exhibit, but the first display for the new year. “I’ve always been into photography; young teenager [un]til now. [I] Did yearbook in high school and was able to learn how to use a dark room” comments Stallman.

An active photographer today, “My collection of photographs from my camera to my phone totals over 100,000 photos easily.  I tend to see things with a creative mind and don’t like passing up an opportunity to take a good picture”. The meaning behind the name of her business is as personal as her photos, “The name was made up of the first three letters of each of my daughter’s names. Del for Delaney and Rea for Reagan”.

Stallman, who says she views photography as “capturing memories”, is a natural-light method photographer and enjoys, “Capturing things from a deer in the wild to a child playing”. The exhibit will not have a theme and instead be a culmination of the various types of photographs Stallman has taken from 2015-2016. “I would have to say my most favorite photograph was a picture of a fawn with a buck in velvet with the sun beating down on them” says Stallman.

On January 18, starting at 5:00pm, the library will be host to both Stallman and her photographs offering a reception for the community to view the photos and talk to Stallman. “This is a great opportunity to show the community what my hobby has to offer; how far I’ve come in just a few years” states Stallman on the opportunity. As far as the future goes, Stallman admits, “As with any thing I do there are always new things and ways of improving; new styles. It’s a hobby to me. I enjoy it.”
