LUSK – Denny Gulley, a resident at Prairie Pines extended care facility, is known for his love of walking and helping fellow residents at Prairie Pines. Gulley decided he wanted to “take an extra step” and help out the community abroad.
Gulley hopes to help children at the Shriners Hospital for Children in Saint Louis, Mo., by taking pledges for each mile he walks in January 2021.
“I want to help kids and make them happy,” Denny said. “I want to give them a chance to grow up and make something of themselves; kids are special.”
Gulley first began walking his many miles after having hip surgery and taking residence at Prairie Pines.
“The nurse got me a pedometer, and I just started building my steps,” Denny said. “I walked 128 miles [in December 2020].”
Denny made a goal to raise $500 for the Shriners Hospital for Children but has far surpassed that goal already. He currently has about $1,500 pledged and is still walking.
Stay tuned to the Lusk Herald as we follow Denny through his Walk-a-Thon.
