DOUGLAS – A Celebration of Life service for Desanka “Sara”  Brown,70, is pending at this time.

Desanka Brown passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2020, at her home near Douglas with her loving husband by her side.

She was born Sunday, Aug. 14, 1949, in Forbach, France, the daughter of Milona and Hildegard (Boguschewski) Vujovich. The family immigrated to the United States in 1952, settling in Chicago, Ill. She was raised and educated in Chicago, graduating from the Sullivan High School in 1967. 

She married Major Lee Brown on Aug. 7, 1970, in Virginia Beach, Va. Major was a member of the United States Marine Corps and following his discharge they moved to Wyoming in 1974. They resided in Douglas and Manville. 

She received her Associate Degree from Eastern Wyoming Community College in Douglas. She worked a few years as a social worker prior to going to work for the Union Pacific Railroad as a control operator.

Following her retirement, she became very involved in volunteer work. She worked as a volunteer at the Douglas Senior Citizens Center, Laramie Peak Humane Society, Food Bank of the Rockies and the Wyoming State Fair. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, entering her work at the fair. She was a member of the Cottonwood Garden club. 

She is survived by her husband, Major Brown, of Douglas; sons, Glenn (Tammy) Brown and their children, Ciara and Logan of Ankeny, Iowa, and Hugh (Linda) Brown and their children, Dalton and Riley of Cheyenne; siblings, Petra (Jerry) Weller of Spring, Texas, and Heilo Vujovich of Springfield, Ill.,; and lots of critters.

Desanka was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial to the Laramie Peak Humane Society, P.O. Box 463, Douglas, Wyoming 82633 would be appreciated by the family.
