DOES Grand Lodge convention in Omaha

Posted

OMAHA, Neb. – Five members of Lusk Drove No. 64 attended the 98th Grand Lodge Convention of the Benevolent, Patriotic Order of DOES in Omaha, the site of the first Drove, in June, celebrating their 100th anniversary. There was no convention held in 1943 because of World War II, and, of course, no convention in 2020 because of COVID.

Barbara Crofutt (Ways and Means raffle appointment) and Dave; Arlene and Ed Rapp; Sheila Tangney (elected for next year’s Supreme Conductor) and Jim; Julie Tollman (appointed to the Election Committee) and Rex; and Rhonda Tollman, who received her Grand Lodge password after serving five years as a color bearer. The men are all Bullshippers, and “shipped” a lot of bull! That organization raises funds and donates them to the Grand Lodge Fund – besides having a lot of fun. If things progress as is common, Sheila Tangney will go in as Grand Lodge Supreme President in June of 2025.

Lusk DOES have been fortunate enough in the last two months to initiate four new members: Kristina Stanley, Lenore Hankins, Sharon Skiver, and Kathy Keenan. We welcome them to our organization. All have been big helps already.

If you are interested in joining our organization, you can contact Sheila Tangney at 307-334-2559. You must have attained the age of 21, be a U.S. Citizen, and believe in God and our country. The Elks and the DOES are the only organizations that require U.S. citizenship, and don’t have affiliations in other countries.
