LUSK - The Niobrara County Fair Board received a check for $50,000 from ONEOK, Inc. at its June 10 meeting. Gunner Hansen and Bob McCormick, who are local operations personnel for the ONEOK pipeline that is currently being placed across Niobrara County, presented the check to the fair board. ONEOK (pronounced ONE-OAK) (NYSE: OKE) is a leading midstream service provider and owner of one of the nation’s premier natural gas liquids (NGL) systems, connecting NGL supply in the Mid-Continent, Permian and Rocky Mountain regions with key market centers and an extensive network of natural gas gathering, processing, storage and transportation assets. ONEOK is a FORTUNE 500 company and is included in the S&P 500.
The Fair Board started the grant application process last fall by requesting $75,000 from the ONEOK Foundation with the hopes of receiving funds to install acoustic panels in the Shooting Sports Multipurpose Building as well as the meeting rooms in the main building at the fairgrounds, which was estimated at $25,000. The balance of the $75,000 would then go towards an outdoor pavilion that would be constructed on the show ring area where the current sheep and goat show take place. ONEOK granted an additional $25,000 to be used towards this project with the hopes that the Fair Board would be able to seek matching funds to complete the pavilion project. This building will be constructed with a roof, partial side walls and concrete floor that will allow the market animal shows to be able to take place in inclement weather and also be one more setting for family reunions, class reunions, birthday parties, weddings, dances and more. The Niobrara County Fairgrounds is the Community Center for many activities that are held at the facility and the Fair Board is always looking for ways to upgrade and improve the facility. Niobrara County Fair Board Chairman Tandy Dockery stated, “We are extremely excited that ONEOK was able to grant us the funds for our projects and we appreciate the interest they have taken in our community. Their generosity will help us continue to have a great facility for our entire county to enjoy.”
This paragraph was taken from the ONEOK, Inc. website: “ONEOK is committed to being an active member in our communities and has a dedicated Community Investments department to foster partnerships between our company, its employees and the community. Investing in the areas where we have operations and where our employees live and work is not only the right thing to do – it’s also smart business. By contributing financially and through volunteer work, we can help build stronger communities and create a better environment for our employees, customers and the general public.”
