The Niobrara County Commissioners have implemented a partial fire ban to all lands within Niobrara County, excluding federal lands, effective August 15, 2017.
The discharge of fireworks and all outdoor fires are prohibited in unimproved areas except trash or refuse fires during hours of 6 p.m. and 8 a.m., inside containers provided with spark arrester and within a cleared area ten feet in radius. Charcoal fires within enclosed grills are permitted. Use of acetylene cutting torches, electric arc welder and propane or open fire branding activities in cleared areas ten feet in radius are permitted. Use of chainsaws provided that the chainsaws have spark arresters are permissible.
Violation of this Resolution is punishable by up to a $100.00 fine, thirty days in the Niobrara County Jail, or both. For more information contact the Niobrara County clerk’s office, 334-2211.
