First 4-H FCS Activity Day a success

Posted

On Thursday, May 31st, the first Family and Consumer Science Activity day was held.  This day was a huge success and was a great way to kick start the summer for the Family and Consumer Science 4-H members

The day started with a lesson comparing prices of pizza that are either bought from a restaurant, frozen pizza or pizza made from scratch.  The members in attendance were shocked how much money and time they could save from making their own pizza.

The members then split into five different groups to make homemade pizza from scratch, everything from the crust to the sauce.  Two of the groups made a crust recipe that contained whole wheat flour and all-purpose flour, and the other three groups made crust recipes that only contained all-purpose flour.  Each member got to pick their own toppings and personalize their own pizza!

After enjoying lunch outside the FCS members created their own fairy night lights and pineapple night lights.  Each member was able to customize and personalize their own light with blue, yellow, or pink sea glass spray paint and their choice of glitter.

Members in attendance included Taylor Gaukel, Karen Schardt, Katie Schardt, Phoebe Allbright, Hattie Nelson, Tia Allbright, Madyson Ortiz-Courtright, Krista Schardt, and Jon Schardt.

A special thank you is in order to Extension Educator Denise Smith, Chrisanna Lund and intern Lexie Dockery for their help making the first activity day a success!

The next activity day will be held Thursday, June 14th at 9:00 a.m. at the Fairgrounds.
