Gilkey and Smith represent at WCA All Star games

Posted

Recent NCHS graduates Miranda Gilkey and Amanda Smith got to represent Lusk one more time before heading off to college. The Wyoming Coaches Association All Star games were held at Casper College on July 21.

Smith played in the volleyball game for South coaches Marnie Garner and Aubrey Griffiths from Rawlins and Becky Baker from Laramie. Smith led the Lady Tigers to the state tournament for the first time since 2005 and was also named all state as a senior.

Gilkey was the 2A Southeast Conference girls basketball player of the year and first Lady Tiger since Erin Nelson in 2005 to be named to the All State team.

Deb Murray has been selected to coach the South girls team, and will be assisted by Rich Murray and Torrington’s Jeff Halley. Both Murrays have been involved with “too many to count” coaching appearances over the years.
