Goddard Family this years’ Legend Dedication

Posted

The Goddard family has been involved with the Legend of Rawhide since 1986 when the revised version was brought back to life by the Lusk Community. Dan participated horseback, helped set up the old dance floor and in the latter years, has been part of the poker scene and one of the musicians. Teri, Dan’s wife, has always worked behind the scenes in one way or another, including helping to wrangle children and supervising their two young children, David and Carrie in the performance as settlers’ children.  As they grew the Goddard family’s involvement increased as well. Eventually,  Carrie played Kate for three years opposite Tally Sharp and JD Harvey. David would play Hal for a few years and the man who runs off with the floozy wagon, as well as helping to hook up teams during the show’s exit scene. As her children grew, Teri took over meal preparation for the cast after Tuffy Schrader retired.  She has now prepared snacks and meals for five days of cast rehearsals and arena clean-up for 15+ years.  After college Carrie’s role moved to behind the scenes for several years working as a photographer and assisting Teri with meals. Chad Bannan joined the family in 2003 and began the role of outrider.  Heather Irvine married David in 2006 and watched her fiancee run off with the floozy wagon their first year together!

The third generation of Goddards in Rawhide have started out as wagon riders and in the Indian Village. Carrie and Chad’s sons Kort and Carter, along with their mom, have become annual passengers in Ryan Rapp’s wagon and Chad is the outrider for Ryan’s team.  David’s daughters Sarah-Jo, Maggie and Cora are children in the Indian Village.

The Goddard’s appreciate the amount of work and effort that goes in to the Legend of Rawhide and love raising their children in a community that comes together for this historic pageant every year.

The Goddard Family was honored this past weekend as the 2018 Legend of Rawhide performances were dedicated to them for all the years the family has continued to give back to the Legend.
