The Gymkhana, taking place on Sunday, July 30, was the wrap to the weekend start of the Niobrara County Fair held at the Niobrara County Fairgrounds in Lusk. A Gymkhana is a combination of competitions between horses and riders. Each event is timed and range from barrels and poles to steer riding and team roping. Three age divisions were held including, Peewee: anyone under 6 years, Junior: anyone 7-11 years, and Senior: anyone 12-17 years. Participants this year were required to pre-register with competitions beginning at 9:00am Sunday morning. In total, the 2017 Gymkhana saw 125 contestants and 575 runs. The competition lasted the better portion of the day and placements were as follows:
