The 2017 edition of the Niobrara Health Fair will be held Sunday, October 8, from noon to four p.m., at the Niobrara County Fairgrounds Auditorium. Be sure to attend to take advantage of the numerous free health checks and health information that will be available.
Santa’s Helpers will be serving lunch from 11 am until 3 pm. They will be serving a variety of items for an affordable price.
Visual acuity tests will be available to determine if further eye testing is needed by an optometrist. Hearing checks will also be offered and will determine if further assessment is needed by an audiologist. Information will be available to direct participants to advanced providers if the tests indicate the need for further services. Blood pressure checks will also be available as will the popular hand strength analysis and the body fat analysis.
Niobrara County Extension Office will provide information on nutrition and food safety. Niobrara Community Hospital will be promoting the services they offer. Air MedCare Network from Scottsbluff will be making available membership applications for air medical transport. The drug disposal program for outdated or unwanted medications, both prescription and non-prescription, will be back again this year. The Child ID Program, sponsored by the BPO Does # 64, will provide DNA swabbing for a permanent ID for children. Wyoming Cancer Resources Services will have information on cancer prevention and awareness. Niobrara Electric Association will provide tips on electrical safety. The Lusk Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Services will have vehicles available for the public to view. A representative from Wyoming Independent Living will be on site to provide information for persons with disabilities to help them live more independent lives.
Numerous other agencies and organizations will also be present to provide information on what services they provide in the area. Be sure to come to the fairgrounds on Sunday, October 8 between 12 and 4 p.m. to see who is present and what they have to offer.
