Horseshoe League new addition in rec lineup

A new recreation director, a summer football camp, and a horseshoes league are just some of the changes the Lusk Recreation Department has seen this year. As summer draws to a close, Shawn Leimser will be completing his first year as the recreation director in Lusk and is ready to get started on ideas for next year. Part of those ideas will include the successful new horseshoes league. The league, which started at the beginning of August, is held on Friday nights and is currently in its third week. Horsehoes will run through August with a tournament the first weekend in September on Friday and Saturday. Per Leimser, there are currently twelve teams in the league with generally thirty people showing up to Northside Park “either watching or participating”. There has been plenty talk by locals that missed out on this year’s league that would like to participate in future leagues, making the maiden season a success. “We will probably double in size next year” states Leimser, who has hopes of running two seasons of the league next year including one in the fall and one in the spring. Following the conclusion of the horseshoes league, all attention will be turned to the peewee football league.
