The Cheyenne Taco Johns Invitational is one of the biggest mid season tournaments and features many bigger schools. NCHS got a taste of a couple 4A JV squads and the 3A Wheatland girls last weekend, while welcoming back sophomores Riley Shaw and Courtney Rowley to the court.
Thursday morning was a rematch with the Cheyenne South JV, and was very similar to their game at the Tiger Jamboree last month. NCHS got off to a strong early lead-as it was 24-10 at the half. Despite far too many turnovers the Lady Tigers rolled to the 44-25 victory.

Sheridan’s JV was the foe Friday morning at East High School, and a back and forth first half led to a 21-19 Lusk halftime edge. The Lady Tigers opened up a comfortable lead in the third quarter before going on to the 50-39 win.

Saturday at Storey Gym the Lady Bulldogs were just quicker to the ball and got transition points in racing to a 33-17 lead at the break. NCHS had a terrible time getting shots to fall, and while playing Wheatland evenly in the second half, the lead was too much to overcome in the 50-37 loss.

The JV had a rough weekend with losses to the East sophs 47-35, Sheridan sophs 51-30 and Wheatland JV 35-21.
With all the early tournaments wrapped up, it’s time to get into conference play. The 7-4 Lady Tigers travel to Lingle Friday for a SEWAC game (4/5:30 p.m.).
