Lady Tigers win 3 of 4 at Jamboree

The NCHS girls basketball team had four home games for the Tiger Jamboree last weekend and was able to get a victory in three of them. Harrison came to Lusk Thursday and matched NCHS with intensity and baskets-down just 23-18 at the half. The Lady Tiger defense held the visitors to just 11 second half points in the 49-29 win.

The Thunder Basin team that visited Lusk was full of athletic, skilled players that gave NCHS fits all game. Lusk led by a slim 27-26 margin at the break but the Lady Bolts wouldn’t go away. Too many missed free throws and easy chances allowed the visitors to slip away with the 49-43 final score.

The Lady Tiger defense showed up Saturday as they held the Cheyenne South JV to just four first half points, while putting up 25. The third period was more of the same before the seniors exited to watch a 46-16 Lusk win.

Saturday afternoon Minatare’s small but scrappy team kept up with NCHS for the first quarter but a pair of Sturman treys pushed it to 31-17 at halftime. The defense got stingy again in limiting the visitors to just eight second half points in rolling to the 64-25 win.

The JV had three games and came up short in all of them. The South sophs won by a close score of 23-18 Friday afternoon. On Saturday morning TB put up 73 points to Lusk’s 25, before Minatare won 42-28 in the afternoon.

The last games before the holiday break happened Tuesday in Guernsey with results to come next week.
