Middle school volleyball and football is in full swing and they are doing well! GO TIGERS!

There was be a Parent Group Meet and Greet on September 12th at 3:30. This is to encourage parent involvement in conducting family night activities, supporting student goals and educational programs, and encouraging community involvement in the student activities at LEMS. It was nice to have several parents attend!

When you come to town, walk the halls of LEMS and see what the students are already doing these first weeks of school! We have some new faces as well! You will first see Traci Bruegger as the new school secretary! We also welcome Mrs. Thayer to the elementary and teaching 4th grade, Mrs. Jessie Reed in the MS halls as the Special Education teacher, and Mrs. Toni Gaukel has also joined the MS as the math teacher, sharing her time between the high school and middle school! Out at Lance Creek School we welcome Mrs. Kristol Miller! It’s going to be another great year!!! ??

A visit with Mrs. Lucinda Kasper:

How long have you worked in education and where (what grade levels, etc)? I started teaching in Brewster, Nebraska. I taught grades 4-6 for two years. When I got married we moved to Cheyenne where I was a substitute teacher for 2 years. Next, I taught in Granger, Wyoming for 9 years. I taught everything from kindergarten to 7th grade, and everything in between. During that time, I also taught music (each rural teacher had a specialty area) and eventually taught special education. I moved to Green River (same school district) and taught eight more years in regular and special education. I became a principal in 2004 and was at Jackson Elementary for 5 years and Harrison Elementary for 6 years. The last 3 years I’ve been the director for Sweetwater County Child Developmental Centers. I’m really excited to be a principal again and am loving Lusk and LEMS!

What do you love most about what you do? I love spending time with the kids and getting to know more about them. I also really like helping both staff and students be the best they can be at whatever they try.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time? I spend time with my family whenever I can and enjoy doing things with my church family.  I love crafts—especially working with wood. I enjoy being outside, walking my dog and working in my garden (when I have one). I love to read and learn more about new things and ideas. I also like historical fiction. I love to travel and watch hockey and baseball (preferably in person).

Tell us about your family. My husband, David, and I have been married for 33 years. He currently delivers mail in Arvada, Colorado. We spend most weekends together and are currently getting our house in Green River ready to sell, so we’re on the road often. My son, Kevin, lives in Seattle, Washington where he works as a waiter at a fancy movie theater that serves people while they are watching movies. My son, Keith, just got married in March. He and his wife, Marci, live in Colorado Springs. He is a fourth-grade teacher and she works in public relations.

What do you do to continue lifelong learning? Anything I can. I learn from others. I read and attend workshops and classes. I teach classes in technology and in reading strategies and I travel. I like to learn more about the history of the places I go.

That’s all for this time! Thank you for reading this first edition of the SNIPPETS!
