The LEMS Spelling Bee was held February 15th. 43 participants, grades 5-8, competed. Ross Diercks announced the 50 words selected for the written portion of the test. After tests were graded, the top ten, eleven due to a tie, advanced to compete in the oral round.
There was only a 3 point difference in the top and bottom finishers in the written round.
The ten students that competed in the oral round were: Phoebe Allbright, Lillian Krueger, Ann Daniels, Kort Bannan, Larkin Williams, Libby Adams, Brittany Knop, Jazmin Ladwig, Melody ZumBrunnen, Madyson Courtright andHarlee Blai.
After seven rounds, the top five District Spelling Bee winners were determined. The students and their placings are: 1st place Melody ZumBrunnen, 2nd place Phoebe Allbright, 3rd place Ann Daniels, 4th Jazmin Ladwig and 5th Harlee Blair.
These girls will be going to Rock Springs, WY on March 24th to compete in the State Spelling Bee. We wish them luck!!
