Sunday, April 14 the “Silver Wind Trio” will be performing at 2 p.m. at the Congregational Church, plan now to attend this event sponsored by the Niobrara County Library and the Niobrara County Library Foundation. The “Silver Wind Trio” is a flute trio comprised of UW graduate students and is guaranteed to be enjoyed.

            The Friends of the Library will be hosting their third RIF (Reading is Fun) program on Wednesday, April 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the library. This program features the musical entertainment of “Doctor Noize” and each child will be able to select books to keep - plan now to attend!

            An encore presentation of the movie, “Oceans of Grass” will be held on Wednesday, April 24 at 6:30 p.m. This is an experiential, immersive documentary capturing a year in the life of a 130-year-old Nebraska Sandhills ranch. The film narrative is provided by the ranchers who have called this area home for generations and the Sandhills people are shown with unhindered realism. The project was created by first-time filmmaker Georg Joutras. The library will provide the popcorn; please bring your own drinks.

            A new novel is “The Nowhere Child” by Christian White. Kimberly Leamy, a photography teacher in Melbourne, Australia, is contacted by an American accountant; he is convinced that she is Sammy Went, a two-year-old girl who vanished from her home in Manson, Kentucky 28-years ago. With proof that she and Sammy are the same person, Kim travels to America to reunite with a family she never knew she had and to solve the mystery of her abduction – a mystery that leads her deep into the dark heart of religious fanaticism.

Ryan. Author of the “Eragon” series, Christopher Paolini has a new addition: “The Fork, the Witch, and the Worm” available in the young adult section.

            New non-fiction titles include “We are Displaced: My Journey and Stories from Refugee Girls Around the World” by Malala Yousafzai, “Return of the Grizzly: Sharing the Range with Yellowstone’s Top Predator” by Cat Urbigkit and “18 Master Values: Be the Parent You Wished You’d Had” by Christine Crockett Smith.

            The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new junior books, “The Hive Queen” by Tui Sutherland, “Famous Mistakes” by Carolyn Keene, and “Rolf” by Kate Klimo. Several of the newer easy titles are “Father’s Day Blessings” by Mike Berenstain, “The Perfect Spin” by Kellee Riley, “Family Trip” created by Neville Astley and “Pinkalicous: Story Time” by Victoria Kann.

            “Hop To It Easter!” is the theme for Storyhour on April 16, 2019, this Storyhour will include a fun outdoor activity (weather permitting).
