Lusk Municipal Golf course warmup for state tournament

Posted

All of the class 2A teams except Lovell and Kemmerer converged on the Lusk Municipal Golf course this past weekend for a warm-up to the State Tournament which will be held in Sheridan this weekend.  Sean Duffy and his crew did a great job in preparing the course for golfers and it made for a great tournament.

On Friday the Tiger boys ended the day 3 strokes behind Tongue River and 5 strokes ahead of Moorcroft.  By the end of Saturday’s round, the boys finished 4 strokes behind Moorcroft and 19 strokes in front of Tongue River.  The boys all played well but the Wolves had a fantastic day.  Dylan Miller continued his hot play with a personal best 87 and Friday and then topped that with a 83 on Saturday.  Cole Hart also played well shooting 90 both days of the tournament.  Dylan ended up 2nd place overall and Cole ended up in 4th.  Micah Shaner shot his usual 104 on Friday but then shot a personal best 98 on Saturday.  That was good for 14th overall.  Tanner Carpenter shot 114 on Friday and then a personal best 104 on Saturday.  Ben Eiden shot two steady rounds of 107, 117 and Caleb Kremers shot 122, 117 for the weekend.  Kade Clark played his best golf of the season with two rounds of 119.  Casey Kremers and Dalton Larson rounded out the Tiger Scoring with 142, 154 and 159, 160 rounds respectively.

The girls team didn’t play particularly well but are still finishing in the top 3 teams whenever they play.  With a little bit of improvement they can come home next weekend with a trophy from the State Tournament.  Mackenzie Lyons shot 111, 116 to have the low score for the lady Tigers.  This was good for 8th place overall. Makayla Waldock and Makena Engelker played pretty even with Makayla’s scores 129 and 123 and Makena’s scores 131 and 129.  Jozalyn Potter played her first time with complete scoring and improved solidly as the tournament progressed.  Once again, with the girls playing their best, they should bring home a trophy this weekend.
