Over the course of the weekend a Pee-Wee Football Camp was held in Lusk for Niobrara County and surrounding area children. “This is the first ever tiger youth football camp. The idea came from our pee wee coaching staff wanting to give our kids an affordable camp to attend that was close to home” states Shawn Leimser, Recreation Director. Four coaches came over from Chadron State college for the camp, Coach Bryar Desanti , Coach Eriq Moore, Coach jcraig Jersild and coach Dylan Furrier. The camp, which began on Friday and ended Saturday at noon, was a success to the tune of fifty-six kids that participated. “We offered an age group of 3rd grade through 8th grade for this camp. We had kids from Cheyenne, Glenrock and Torrington, Guernsey and Lusk Wyo., Hemingford, Morrill and Harrison Neb.” says Leimser. Leimser, who hopes to make the camp a yearly sporting event, explained that major focus for the Pee-Wee Football Camp was on the fundamentals of football for each position on the field. Following the two-day camp, participants were invited to The Covered Wagon for a barbeque and swimming party.
