TORRINGTON – Marjorie (Traphagan) Merchen, 86, of Torrington passed away on Oct. 17, 2020 from COVID-19. Margie was born Sept. 22,1934, in Sterling, Colo., and was raised in Lance Creek by parents Joe and Faye Traphagan. She graduated from Manville High School.

She married John Bayne in 1953 and had three children, Diana Bayne Tharp, John Bradley Bayne and Danny Joe Bayne. She was widowed at an early age, then remarried in 1959, and had daughter Julie Ann Davis and son Alan Michael Davis. She worked hard to raise her children, and lived many places, returning to her native Wyoming in 2004. 

Margie was a 4-H leader for many years, while her kids were involved. She liked fishing and loved dogs; Margie always had pet dogs. She especially enjoyed her retirement job at the Torrington Museum.

A funeral mass will be held Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 1 p.m. at St. Leo Catholic Church in Lusk, followed by a private burial at the Lusk Municipal Cemetery.

Marjorie is survived by her sister Joe Ellen Landkamer and her husband Lew, nieces Lori Ann, Lisa Jo, and Teresa Lea, and nephew Dennis Trujillo and his wife Adeline.

She was predeceased by her sister Patricia, who died in early 2020. They will both be honored at these services, as COVID precluded gatherings in 2020.
