The Tiger/Lady Tiger golf teams got underway last weekend when they traveled to Wheatland to compete in a 4A/3A tournament. The three Cheyenne High Schools, Laramie, Douglas, Torrington, Rawlins, and Wheatland were the other competing schools. Low scorers for the Tigers were Dylan Miller shooting a 100 on Thursday, not able to compete on Friday and Micah Shaner shooting a 109 on Thursday and coming back with a 100 on Friday. Tanner Carpenter did a good job cutting 11 strokes off his Thursday score for a 113 on Friday. Caleb Kremers also showed much improvement on Friday with a 119 compared to a 131 on Thursday. Ben Eiden had a two day total of 260 and Kade Clark and Casey Kremers were just able to golf on Friday. The boys will be starting the 2A schedule on Monday with a tournament at Newcastle and then Friday and Saturday they will be at Sundance and Upton.
The girls were led by Mackenzie Lyons with scores of 112 and 117. Makayla Waldock shot 139 and 130 and looks to improve every time she touches the clubs. Makenna Engelker and Jozalyn Potter played for the very first time in their career and showed a lot of promise. All of the girls made good swings that they can build on and work toward bringing home a trophy at the State Tournament in the middle of September. The girls will have the same schedule the boys have this week and look forward to some 2A competition.
