LUSK – Even with all the obstacles 2020 has conjured up, the NCHS Alumni Golf Tournament was able to hold its fifth annual event on June 26, 2020. Regardless of the issues faced in putting the tournament together, 2020 ended up being the best fundraising year it has ever had.

The tournament filled up quickly with the 36 teams for the morning and afternoon flights. With some of the best conditions the tournament has ever had, the golfers were able to score low and take home some great prizes.

NCHS graduates Cory Clark, Brian Clark, and Levi Clark were able to take home the top prize this year. Second place went to NCHS grads Ryan Rapp and Jason Wasserburger, along with their teammate Mike Phillips. Third place went to NCHS grads Travis St. John, Toby Hytrek, and Kasey Rising.

The NCHS Alumni Golf Tournament was able to raise almost $19,000.00. While some of the funds were retained in order to put on the tournament for 2021, the Board for the NCHS Alumni Golf Tournament was able to donate $15,000.00 to three separate funds benefitting Niobrara County students: $5,000.00 to the Niobrara Alumni Association for their scholarships; $7,500.00 to the NCHS Activity Fund; and $2,500 to the Tiger Pride Booster Club.

The Board presented the Niobrara Alumni Association with its donation at the annual Alumni Banquet. Members of the board were also able to present the NCHS Activity Fund and the Tiger Pride Booster Club with their respective donations during halftime of the Homecoming football game against Lingle-Fort Laramie.

The NCHS Alumni Golf Tournament is very thankful for the support of our golfers, sponsors, alumni, friends, and family. With the support of all the parties mentioned and the community, this event has become extremely successful and is a staple of the alumni reunion activities. The Board plans on building on the past success and looks forward to putting together a great event in 2021.
