The Niobrara County Rural Fire District said good-bye to four of their elected board members at their March 8 meeting. In a room crowded with experience, stories; good and bad, and hard earned appreciation, Rex Groves, Robert Freeman, Mark Bruegger, and Jim Wasserburger were presented with jackets for their dedication to the department. The jackets, black in color, were neatly embroidered in red with their first names on the front and a crescent circle ‘Niobrara Co. Rural Fire’ over the title Director followed by each man’s years of service on the back. Combined, one-hundred and two years of service will be walking out the door. Individually, Rex Groves has served fifteen years, Robert Freeman twenty years, Mark Bruegger thirty-two years, and Jim Wasserburger thirty-five years. For your service and dedication to your community, we thank you.
