Niobrara 4-H members excel at the Wyoming State Fair

The Wyoming State Fair was the stage for many of the Niobrara County 4-H members to exhibit their projects and to receive recognition for their hard work.  This year’s State Fair proved to be a very successful one for several of our local 4-H members.

In the Style Revue Contest Niobrara County 4-H members placed seven out of our eleven contestants.  In the Ready-to-Wear Division Taylor Gaukel received the Grand Champion Senior Award and Riley Shaw won the Reserve Champion Intermediate stylist.  In the Constructed Division Brittin Bruch achieved the Grand Champion Junior Award and Tia Allbright  placed 9th in the Juniors.  Also in the Constructed Division Phoebe Allbright received 5th place Intermediate, Melody ZumBrunnen was 6th place Intermediate and Riley Shaw placed 8th in the Intermediates.  Other members competing in the Constructed Division from Niobrara County included Gracie ZumBrunnen receiving a purple ribbon and receiving blue ribbons were Bryn Bruch, Taylor Gaukel and Sadie Sturman.  

In the Exhibit Halls Niobrara County 4-H members also received numerous top honors.  Those members and the honors they received included: 

2nd place Intermediate Cake Decorating- Grace Currier 

Reserve Champion Overall Fabric and Fashion Construction- skirt and peasant blouse- Brittin Bruch 

1st place Senior Quilting- deer quilt- Katie Schardt

2nd place Intermediate Beef Educational exhibit- Tallie Miller

Grand Champion Overall Shotgun exhibit- turkey fan- Phoebe Albright 

1st place Intermediate Leathercraft-spur straps- Collin Taylor

Champion Senior Leathercraft- guitar strap- Kerby Baars

Reserve Champion Intermediate Leathercraft-breast collar- Aiden Applegarth

1st place Junior Leathercraft- coin purse- Cora Taylor 

1st place Intermediate Leathercraft- shotgun case- James Cushman 

Champion Senior Leathercraft- saddlebags- Casey Kremers

2nd place Junior Visual Arts- farm scene garden in a red wagon-Brittin Bruch

1st place Senior Junior Leadership project- beekeeping- Kerby Baars

The Niobrara County 4-H delegation to State Fair consisted of 22 members that exhibited in the Horse, Beef, Sheep, Swine, Goat and Poultry Shows and participated in the Style Revue and Livestock Judging competitions.  Results of the Livestock Shows will be published at a later date.
