Has your business jumped on the Social Media Wagon yet? If not, then you should do so immediately. It’s important because it’s an inexpensive way to market your business, you can have contact with thousands of people, it’s accessible to most people, and it works.

Social Media works for your strategic communication and can be individualized towards your business. It must be designed to build a shared understanding that enables actions, i.e. attending your event, purchasing an item from your business, etc. Each piece of content you post should, in some way, be connected to your organization, business, or market.

What other people say about your business is far more important than what you say about your business. Pay attention to the comments and address them if needed, whether they’re good or bad reviews.

Be sure your posts are timely, accurate and relevant. Use hashtags, tags, etc. when relevant but don’t go overboard with tags. When using pictures or videos, make sure they are visually appealing, be sure they are in landscape form, as well as having proper lighting and sound quality. Be sure to have the most important information first as the average watch time for a video is only ten seconds. Proofread your post but don’t be afraid of making mistakes. You should post at least once daily but no more than 3 or 4 times, and make your post exciting and enlightening.

As the administrator of your social media, be sure to monitor the number of views, engagements, growth and make adjustments as needed. Be sure to do an analysis report monthly.

If you are interested in having a workshop on social media, please contact our office and we can work on having Jordan from the Small Business Development Center come to Lusk for a free workshop. The one I recently attended was very informative and Jordan can help you to set up a workshop and share ideas on how to improve your marketing with social media.

The chamber has recently made monthly event calendars available at Decker’s Market. We plan to expand the idea and have them available throughout other locations in Lusk. f you want your event added to our website to be printed, please contact our office no later than the 15th of the previous month i.e. need all of Mays events no later than April 15th.

Reminder that advertising grants for the Lusk Lodging Tax are due April 15th. We have either emailed or mailed out applications to previous recipients. If you are hosting an event that brings people to town than you may be eligible for some financial assistance. Preference is given to those events which encourage an overnight stay.
