Niobrara County Chamber calls new office home

Posted

As the title suggests, the Niobrara County Chamber of Commerce has moved to a new office while still remaining centrally located on Lusk’s Main Street. Chamber Director Jackie Bredthauer states the change, their previous location was an office inside of Bloomers, came as a result of the community assessments done last year by the Niobrara Long Term Recovery Board where it was cited that community members wished to see the Chamber in a more visible location. And thus came the move into the Ranger building where the Chamber now occupies a large corner office with a Main Street view. The official address is 302 S. Main Unit 9. For herself, Bredthauer lists a personal struggle to leave the Bloomer girls whom she has formed a bonding friendship with. However, as with the needs of the Chamber, she credits the new building to accomplish some forthcoming objectives, “Our goal for relocating is that we will be much more visible to visitors.  With many large windows to advertise our office, we are now able to have more signage.  Being nearer the Stagecoach Museum and the Fresh Start service station should bring in a lot more foot traffic as well.  We also have public restrooms in the building for people to use and a larger room for storage and a space for meetings.  Another positive is that we now have an information rack right inside the building that has our brochures, maps, and other items that people can obtain 24/7-365. Though it is somewhat of a maze, there are two outside entrances that are handicap accessible as well”. The move itself was led by David Lingelbach, Randi Ross and The Wyoming Women’s Center and took all of about a day to complete. Unpacking, sorting, and putting away was another story, taking roughly two weeks to accomplish but Bredthauer laments that she is completely moved in and set up. And what better way to wind down 2018 and open a new chapter in 2019? “The year 2018 has been a very eventful year,” explains Bredthauer, further explaining that while the Chamber of Commerce itself doesn’t play host to its own events but rather works in conjunction with many groups to help promote Lusk and the surrounding towns of the county seat, “The Main Street Group that started as a committee of the Chamber of Commerce has now expanded to be an independent group, Revitalizing Our Community Spirt (ROCS), which we are still a part of and will continue to work closely with them in a joint effort.   Relocating our office was of course another accomplishment that we were able to fulfill in November.  Another major accomplishment was setting up our website.  Candy Dooper has set the site up and taught me how to enter the information. You can now find us at https://visitlusk.weebly.com. This will allow us to post items in a timely manner and host a more usable community calendar”. Looking towards 2019, expanding the website will become an undertaking where Chamber members will receive their own mug shots. “Our first goal is to have a link to all our member businesses on our website.  Profiles will be sent with member renewal statements and we hope everyone will fill them out to assure we have the most accurate and current information”. Additionally, the Chamber Board will be looking at the best use of Chamber dollars for budgeting purposes, moving things around to transfer with the times and be a more competing force. Bredthauer explains that she and the Chamber Board are appreciative of the work they have been able to do with local businesses and hope to continue to raise the bar on their relationships as they move forward providing for the county. Conjunctional work with groups like ROCS will continue and the chance for meetings to be held in their new office is very alluring.
