LUSK - Start making plans to Meet Me At The LUAU July 26th-August 2nd at the Niobrara County Fair! The Fair Board is excited about the addition of the Wyoming Quilt Trail Block classes at the fair. There will be two different divisions for entry. The first division will be for the painted blocks and the second will be for pictures of the painted blocks that are already displayed. The Fair Board is also planning to add a fun event with the Lusk Recreation so be watching for details of that coming soon. Plans for the fair also include the annual ranch rodeo, Ag Olympics, the parade, free community barbeques, youth livestock shows and all of the open class divisions. Fair Books and fair entry forms should be printed and ready for the community to pick up in a few weeks. We would also like to invite everyone to follow the Niobrara County Fair on Facebook for the latest news and details about the fair. Please start planning now to enter something in the Open Class Divisions at the fair. If every person in the county decided to participate by entering just one item our building would be full!

Maintenance and improvement projects are an ever-present discussion at each meeting. The board has gathered bids and will be talking to the County Commissioners about updating the electrical service in several areas of the grounds. The Wyoming Honor Camp has been here several times and have been very busy around the grounds working on various maintenance projects including the installation of the new raised beds at the pollinator plot for our bees.

The Fair Board would like to invite everyone out to the Fairgrounds on May 23 from 5-7 p.m. for the Niobrara County Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours. The event will be a fun evening that will showcase the many aspects of the fairgrounds as well as Niobrara County 4-H and Extension. Please break out your Hawaiian clothes and join the fun….there could even be a prize for the best dressed of the evening.

The Board discussed and voted to allow commercial vendors to be set up during the Niobrara County Fair. Anyone interested should contact the Extension Office for more details.

The next Fair Board meeting will be on June 3 at 6 p.m.
