On Sunday, April 30, the Niobrara FNRA (Friends of the Natrional Rifle Association) Committee presented checks to two local organizations to be used in their shooting sports programs.
Niobrara County FNRA Chairman Dan Cushman, Vice Chair Gene Green, and Committee Member Danny Tadewald, presented a $1,820.00 check to 4H Shooting Sports leaders Kevin and Julie Gaukel. The money will be used to purchase and install an overhead door so that the event trailer can be stored indoors. The trailer was also purchased and signage provided by FNRA grant monies.
Kevin and Julie Gaukel and their children have been Niobrara FNRA committee members and have been instrumental in putting on the annual banquets for a number of years.
Danny Tadewald has assisted with the shooting sports program for decades and the banquets for a number of years as well.
Royce Thompson and Dustin Cushman with the Niobrara Gun Club were presented a check for $9,450.00. A new Pat Trap and a voice command system will be added to the gun club site.
For several years now, Dan Cushman has written the grant applications following the FNRA banquets. In past years, the 4H Shooting Sports Program and the Niobrara Search and Rescue have benefited from FNRA grants. Dan receives requests from local shooting sports programs and information such as price quotes are gathered and submitted for the FNRA grant monies. The youth in our area benefit directly from the grant awards. The money is raised across the country from the banquets. The monies awarded are from the FNRA through the NRA Foundation.
The Niobrara FNRA Committee greatly appreciates the annual attendance and generous support. Without the help of our local merchants and the generosity of our community, these local youth shooting programs would not have such great equipment.
