On June 4, 2015 Niobrara County experienced a catastrophic and devastating weather event resulting in severe flooding. This has become a part of our history, our character and a part of who we are as a community. We must not and will not ever forget. But we must also never forget that no lives were lost, the community came together and, through the adversity, we connected and grew stronger.

Each year since then, the Chamber of Commerce has sponsored Niobrara Strong Day on the first Saturday in June. This event is a family fun day and helps to kick off summer. It is in no way intended to be a celebration of the flood but, perhaps a reminder and a time to celebrate who we are, what we’ve been through and what we have become. We are resilient, we are overcomers and we are Niobrara Strong.
Niobrara Strong Day will be held on Saturday, June 1 at Northside Park starting at 10 a.m. There will be inflatable rides for all ages and a dunk tank until 1 p.m. Members of New Life in Christ Baptist Church will be selling lunch and concession items, in addition to having a car wash. Weather permitting, there will be free swimming in the afternoon and, in the evening, an outdoor movie will be shown. Our hope is that the community will come together again to relax, have some fun and enjoy this event.
Thank you.
