LUSK – The Silver Springs Center for Excellence is a not-for-profit corporation founded in August 2019. The purpose of the SSCE is to establish a full-time daycare center in Lusk. The goals of the organization include obtaining a building site, selecting a company to manage the daycare, and partnering with the YMCA to provide healthy living activities.
An initial fundraiser dinner was held Sept. 6 and as of Oct. 14, approximately $13,700 has been given to the SSCE. The NEA has offered a generous donation, and, in addition, an anonymous donor is offering a match of dollar for dollar up to $150,000. The SSCE is exploring other fundraising activities.
The SSCE holds regular monthly meetings and is in the process of developing a comprehensive business plan. Board members are Kody Nelson, Cassandra Matney, Nikita Thomas, George Mirich, Rick Catron, Anndee Meng and Elaine Griffith.
