LUSK – A California man is dead and two more injured following an accident Wednesday south of Lusk.
According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, Ezquiel C. Castillo, 29, of Merced, Calif., was northbound, driving a 2018 Nissan Sentra on U.S. Hwy. 85 south of Lusk. The driver reportedly failed to negotiate a right-hand curve and crossed the center line into the path of a 2016 Peterbilt, driven by Torrington resident Martin J. Reed, 63.
Ezquiel Castillo and a front-seat passenger, identified as Modesto, Calif.-resident Christopher E. Rodriguez, were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident. Both were taken to the Niobrara Community Hospital for injuries suffered in the crash.
A third man, Adam R. Castillo, of San Francisco, Calif., was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Reed, the truck driver, was not injured.
Driver fatigue on the part of Ezquiel Castillo is being investigated as contributing to the accident, which marks the 34th traffic fatality in the state so far this year.
