LUSK – The Wyoming Child and Family Development Lusk Early Childhood Center held its spring fling celebration with families and staff. Activities included an egg hunt, bracelet making, build a bunny tail and planting flower seeds. Families enjoyed a sandwich bar and chips for dinner and then the kids (and adults) had fun with a build your own sundae dessert option.
17 families attended the event and the mood was festive. The preschool holds 3-4 such events a year. This year they have done a “pumpkin patch” event, a Christmas activity afternoon and the spring fling. A key component of the program is to allow families to meet and get to know one another so that they feel like they have a support network with other families and parents. The family engagement activities are planned by a joint committee of staff and family members. This was also the first family activity for new center coordinator Kalene White and early head start teacher Stephanie Baldwin.
The Lusk center offers all day and half day preschool options for three and four year olds. They are the Head Start, CDC and Early Head Start provider for Niobrara county. Families with questions or interested in applying for the program can contact the center at 307-334-2252.
