The County Commissioners’ meeting was called to order on February 7, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. with Chairman Patrick H. Wade, Vice-Chairman John Midkiff, Commissioner Elaine Griffith, and County Clerk Becky L. Freeman present. Sheriff Randy Starkey presented Foreman Fred Thomas and the road and bridge crew with a certificate of appreciation for all of the work they have done to open roads and assist the sheriff’s office in rescuing stranded motorists.
Road and Bridge- Foreman Fred Thomas discussed road and bridge business. He said he had been contacted by landowners on South Van Tassell Road asking if a sign saying roads are closed due to bad weather could be posted. Foreman Thomas said regardless of signage, they or the sheriff would still have to assist in the event the travelers become stranded.

The majority of funds to be used to purchase this equipment will be taken from the county road fund and the remaining costs taken from the general county fund and will be paid after the start of the next fiscal year.
