LUSK – Rhonda L. Stone was born June 10, 1955, to Patsy and Ervin Cox in Grand Island, Neb.
She spent most of her childhood in the small farming communities of central Nebraska and briefly in the state of Washington. She moved to Lusk in 1973, to be with her sister Dixie L. Blaney, and her mom and step dad.
After working many years in the service industry of Lusk as a bartender, cook and waitress, she obtained a degree through Eastern Wyoming College and a job with the Department of Family Services. At this job she did what she loved most and helped people during their time of need. This included helping many foster children find homes, including her favorite, Tennille Henry, whom she helped get placed with her sister Dixie and mom Pat.
During her years with DFS she reconnected and married an old love, Larry Stone. She eventually moved on to a new job at Wyoming Women’s Center, where she helped inmates become productive members of society before retiring early due to degenerative arthritis.
Rhonda very much enjoyed crafts, music, movies and collecting knickknacks. But perhaps her favorite hobby, especially after retirement, was watching all her grandchildren and the children of the many kids that she was a second mom to.
Rhonda was preceded in death by her grandparents, Leta and Robert Stairs, her nephew, Matthew Robert Blaney, her stepfather, Ronald O. Fowler, her mother, Patsy Cox, and her ex-husband, Bill Courtright.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Stone, father, Ervin Cox and sister, Dixie Blaney of Lusk, step-sister, Mary Ann Cox-Coe, and step-brother, Bill Cox, of Omaha, Neb, daughter, Jeni Courtright and grandsons Sean, Sevren and Kanyon Johnson of Lusk, and son, Jordan (Kayla) Courtright and their children, Madyson, Gage, and Mason Courtright and Brylee Carter of Glenrock, nephew, Ron (Donna) Fowler of Wheatland, and many other family members and friends.
