Funeral services for Ruth Ann Mahnke, 88, will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2019, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Douglas, with the Rev. Jakob Berger officiating.  Interment will be in the Douglas Park Cemetery.

Ruth Mahnke, former resident of Keeline, resided at the family ranch until the death of her husband and then moved to Douglas where she resided at Irwin Towers until she passed on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019, at the Central Wyoming Hospice Home in Casper.

She was born Monday, Aug. 17, 1931, in Lusk, the daughter of Charles Edwin and Verna Hulda (Baars) Humphrey.  She attended grade school at Node and graduated from the Niobrara High School at Lusk in 1945.  She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church, attending church both in Lusk and Douglas.  She married Dan R. Mahnke on Nov. 15, 1948 in Torrington.  She was the post mistress at the Keeline Post Office for several years and designed floral arrangements at Stark’s Flower Shop in Douglas.   

She loved to garden and raised beautiful roses and flowers.  When she left the ranch, she began quilting more and made several beautiful quilts for family and wall hangings which she hung on her door for every season.  

She had several quilts entered in the Wyoming State Fair, winning blue ribbons along with one quilt that hung in the State Capital in Cheyenne.

She is survived by her children, Charles Mahnke of Puyallup, Wash., Tracy (Gail) Mahnke of Lusk, and Nancy (Allen) Wintermote of Douglas; five grandsons, Michael Chad Sears, Tom Wintermote, Chad Wintermote, Wade Wintermote and Travis Mahnke; six great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Ruth was preceded in death by her father, Charlie, on June 27, 1982; mother Verna, on July 31, 1981; husband, Dan, on Aug. 16, 1995; son, Douglas Richard Mahnke, on Feb. 26, 1981; and sister, Dorthea Porter.  

A memorial to the Central Wyoming Hospice Home, 319 South Wilson Street, Casper, WY 82601 or to Zion Lutheran Church, 601 South Ninth Street, Douglas, WY 82633 would be appreciated by the family.
